Yeah, In order to unfollow certain people the social media had upgraded its news feed with some settings.
Facebook shows you a options as with top people, groups and pages that you want to get news on your wall by your wish and you can also unfollow the people or pages or groups you want. Then automatically you can get only important news as like as you want.
And if you want to re-follow the people again, you can follow them again because the unfollowed people in the past by you, will be on settings page.

The arrow button on top of your news feed will ask you to unfollow the person or page. If can select your based on your requirements. So, you can get only important news on your wall.
